Jordan Smith (Slavin) named as the Academic Director

Summit Academy Sports is thrilled to welcome Jordan Smith (Slavin) as our new Director of Academics, joining Athletic Director Steve Quailer. Jordan brings an exceptional blend of hockey expertise and more than a decade of experience in education, making her a perfect fit for our mission of developing student-athletes both in and out of the classroom.

Jordan’s hockey career is as inspiring as it is accomplished. She played Division I hockey for the University of North Dakota from 2009–2013. Before her collegiate career, she competed for top-tier Colorado youth teams and represented the U.S. national team at the IIHF World Under-18 Tournament, helping elevate the profile of girls' hockey across the state. Her trailblazing efforts continue to inspire a new generation of athletes—evident in milestones like the Glenwood Grizzly Girls’ 2024 Vail Sportsmanship Tournament victory. Events such as Colorado Girls Hockey Night are a testament to the growing visibility of the sport and Jordan’s lasting influence.

Academically, Jordan is equally accomplished. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a Minor in Mathematics from the University of North Dakota, a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from Grand Canyon University, and a Certificate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Denver.

Jordan’s passion lies in blending the structure, discipline, and collaboration of athletics with the transformative power of education. Known for her ability to build trust and create positive, student-centered learning environments, she is deeply committed to helping student-athletes thrive both in the classroom and in their athletic pursuits.

We are excited to welcome Jordan to the Summit Academy Sports team and look forward to the positive impact she will have on our students’ growth and success.
